- Bryce Harrop together with former E3SM members and current ecosystem scientists: Phil Rasch, Vince Larson and Hui Wan (Fig. 2) contributed to the UCAR Best Paper, “Reconciling and Improving Formulations for Thermodynamics and Conservation Principles in Earth System Models (ESMs)”.
- Ruby Leung and Steven Smith (Fig. 3) made it on to the exclusive 2023 Highly Cited List, indicating multiple highly-cited publications over the last decade.
Media Coverage
- Jennifer Holm (Fig. 4) appeared as a guest expert on Neil deGrasse Tyson’s podcast StarTalk to talk about how tropical forests help mitigate climate change and how they are such critical, valuable ecosystems, and deforestation in the Amazon.
Invited Talks
- Alan Di Vittorio gave a presentation on the GCAM-E3SM coupling progress and results at the 2024 European Geosciences Union (EGU) Meeting.
- Ben Bond-Lamberty gave an invited talk about E3SM in a recent ESS PI Meeting “E3SM Phase 3 (and Beyond) Capabilities, Priorities, and Goals for EarthSystem Sciences“.
- Shaocheng Xie gave an invited seminar at UCLA on v3 Atmosphere. He also gave an invited talk on modeling the diurnal cycle of precipitation in weather and climate models at the 2024 EGU general assembly.
- Susannah Burrows gave an invited seminar at the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL), presenting on the experiences and preliminary outcomes of the E3SMv3 Aerosol Working Group.
- Vijay Mahadevan presented on the new coupler at the 2024 Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) Conference on Parallel Processing for Scientific Computing.
