E3SM Participation in CMIP7
The project has received many questions about whether the E3SM project will participate in CMIP7. While E3SM will not complete all of the requested CMIP7 Fast Track simulations (CMIP Phase 7 (CMIP7) – Coupled Model Intercomparison Project), the project is committed to completing the full DECK (Fig 1., grey box) with the new v3 model and submitting data to the CMIP archive. It is likely that the project will also complete an ensemble of the medium SSP scenario as well as some of the C4MIP experiments (Fig 1., yellow box) depending on the readiness of the model. Other “process understanding” experiments may be run, depending upon the priorities and road maps of the groups.
