A Comprehensive Chemistry Evaluation and Diagnostics Package for E3SM – ChemDyg Version 1.1.0
The project is excited to share news about a powerful new resource for atmospheric scientists: ChemDyg v1.1.0, an open-source Chemistry Evaluation and Diagnostics Package developed for the Energy Exascale Earth System Model (E3SM).
ChemDyg is designed to streamline and enhance the evaluation of atmospheric chemistry in E3SM. With its modular architecture, ChemDyg enables researchers to routinely assess model performance, tailor development efforts, and conduct deep-dive analyses of atmospheric chemistry processes. ChemDyg can also be called as a plugin in zppy.
What’s new in ChemDyg v1.1.0?
- Advanced Diagnostics: The latest version introduces robust diagnostic tools, including climatology, time evolution of key tracers, diurnal and annual cycle analyses, and comprehensive budget diagnostics.
- Observational Comparisons: Users can now easily compare model outputs with observational data, helping to identify and address model discrepancies.
- Interactive HTML Outputs: ChemDyg generates interactive HTML reports, making data exploration and sharing more accessible for the research community.
- Customizable Framework: The package’s flexible design allows users to create and adapt diagnostic sets, addressing specific scientific questions and research needs.
- User-Friendly Documentation: Each diagnostic set comes with dedicated scripts and clear documentation, ensuring a smooth user experience.
