Sally McFarlane, ARM Program Manager, DOE BER

With Dorothy Koch’s departure from DOE, I will be the interim program manager for E3SM until a new program manager is hired in BER. I will be assisted by Corinne Hartin, a staff member at PNNL, who is doing a half-time assignment with BER to assist with the modeling programs during this transition period.

For those that don’t know me, I have been a program manager at DOE since 2012.  I am currently the program manager for the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) user facility and previously co-managed the Atmospheric System Research (ASR) program.  I am hoping that my experience managing ARM, which is also a large multi-laboratory project with many complicated pieces needing to coordinate closely with each other, will be helpful in this new adventure.   I am looking forward to learning more about the E3SM project over the next few months, and to interacting with all of you who have made the E3SM project and model such a success so far.  I realize that there is a bit of uncertainty in having an interim program manager, but the E3SM project is well on track with the successful Phase 2 proposal and review last year, so my focus will be primarily on helping you execute that vision.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions at [email protected] or 301-903-0943.
